Our Journey

1870s

Foundation & Early Years

St. James the Less was founded in Ashland as a small parish committed to faithful worship and community service. From its earliest days, the church became a spiritual anchor for the growing town, welcoming parishioners and serving as a place of prayer and fellowship.

St. James grew as Ashland developed. The parish expanded its facilities, deepened its programs, and strengthened its commitment to youth education and formation. Music and liturgical excellence became hallmarks of worship.

1980s–1990s

Outreach & Mission Focus

St. James deepened its commitment to serve the broader community. The parish launched new outreach initiatives, expanded youth programs, and became increasingly intentional about welcoming all people—regardless of background or circumstance.

2010 & Beyond

Free Clinic & Contemporary Mission

St. James established its free clinic to serve uninsured and underinsured community members—a direct expression of Christ's love for the vulnerable.
