What's a Sunday Like?

Worship at St. James is warm, welcoming, and reverent. We follow the Episcopal tradition with music, Scripture, prayers, and Holy Communion. If you're new to church or haven't been in a while, don't worry—we'll help you find your way.

The Flow of Worship

  1. Gathering: Music and opening prayers set the tone
  2. Scripture: Readings from the Bible and the Gospel
  3. Sermon: A reflection on Scripture's meaning for today
  4. Holy Eucharist: We share Communion as the center of our worship
  5. Blessing: We go out strengthened to serve
St. James community in worship

Questions About Worship?

What should I wear?

There's no dress code. Wear whatever is comfortable. You'll see people in everything from jeans to formal wear—wear what makes you feel welcome.

Can I bring my children?

Absolutely! Children are welcome in church at all times; Nursery care is available from 8:45 AM and children's formation meets at 9:00 AM, September through May.

Do I need to know the liturgy?

No prior experience needed. A service leaflet guides you through the entire service.

What is Communion? Can I participate?

Communion is the central act of worship where we share bread and wine in remembrance of Christ's love. All are welcome to receive Communion or a blessing.

What if I'm not sure about my faith?

You're still welcome! St. James welcomes people exploring faith, returning to church, and those with doubts. We believe faith is a journey, and questions are part of it.

Is there coffee and community after worship?

Yes! We have a coffee hour after worship where we gather, share food, and get to know one another. It's a great time to ask questions and make friends.

See You Sunday!
